Isla Brown Corinthia
The redesign of the iconic “Hanikian” hotel embodies elements of topography of its legendary location on the Corinthian Gulf, endowing the formerly rectangular building into an organic form and shaping a new architectural identity. As the hotel stands on the edge of the Volcanic Arc, besides craterless volcano “Sousaki”, its design was inspired by a mythological embodiment of a volcanic eruption emulating the fluidity of lava: Square volumes become a stack of white “pebbles” while successive curved surfaces on the facades give a dynamic form and sculpture effect, creating a sense of movement.
Consecutive curved surfaces create a renewed visual identity, in exterior and interior walls, finishes, lighting design, and decorative elements. The color palette features volcanic shades of terracotta and amber, bronze mirrors, gold, and tinted glass.
With a strong personality and a sculptural form, Easy Peasy fits perfectly with the style and the palette of the bar and restaurant areas of the hotel. Its portability, different shapes and colors, and the dim-to-warm functionality of its light source allow users to play and interact with it by adjusting the intensity of the light.
